ASP.NET
ASP.Net or "dot net" is Microsoft's
next generation of the ASP language. It provides a
complete environment for content management and sharing
over the Internet.
.NET is Microsoft's new programming
technology which is now gaining acceptance and momentum.
Soon, it will completely replace standard ASP. While
.NET development is not as rapid (leading to higher
production costs), it is significantly more stable,
and runs much faster than older programming technologies,
opening up new possibilities for web development.
(Active Server Pages for .NET)-A set
of .NET classes used to create Web-based, client-side
(Web Form) and server-side (Web Service) applications.
ASP.NET was derived from the Microsoft Active Server
Pages (ASP) Web technology and adapted for use in
the .NET Framework. Also called managed ASP and formerly
known as ASP+.
The latest iteration of ASP from Microsoft.
This product merges the benefits of both ASP and JSP.
A few of the benefits are: Compiled Execution. In
previous versions of ASP the code was interpreted
when the page was requested. Now the code is compiled
upon the first request of the page and afterwards
is always run from the compiled version. This increases
performance and stability. .NET Architecture. Because
ASP.NET is in the .NET architecture, any .NET programming
language is supported. Also, the complete language
is available, not a cut down version. This improved
drastically the capabilities of ASP.NET
